Short Breaks Activity Days

During the Summer school holiday Essex Outdoors have inclusive activity days at Bradwell, Danbury and Mersea. Places have been subsidised with funding from Action for Children through the Short Breaks for Disabled Children (SBDC) programme.

Bradwell - 01621 776256 -
The Bradwell Sailing and Crabbing Days will use our ketch rigged day boats, ideally suited to all types of groups and seas conditions. Crews can assist with hoisting and trimming sails and helming the boat. Groups will sail across the estuary and lunch at a suitable destination. This may be Mersea where groups can buy themselves an ice cream and go crabbing off the pontoon, before sailing back to Bradwell.

Monday 12th August - Climbing, Archery, Pedal Karts and Caving

Please note: while every effort is made to deliver the activities above they are subject to change due to the ability of those booked on the days. Likewise if have specific requirements for your child, please get in touch as we have a range of activities on offer.

Who are they for?
These opportunities are for children and young people aged 8 to 18 with a diagnosed disability attending with a supporter. Supporters can participate in these exciting opportunities whilst continuing to provide the usual high levels of care and support.

Those eligible should be registered with the Short Breaks Team at Essex County Council. The child's passport number will need to be provided at the time of booking. To register visit Short Breaks at Essex County Council.

Places can also be booked for a non-disabled sibling or friends aged 8 to 18.

The centres will try to accommodate all disabilities based on the information provided at time of booking.

Where are we eating?
Participants will need to provide a packed lunch to eat in our dining room or elsewhere during the day.

Child with a disability registered with Short Breaks Essex: £15
Supporters are free
Non-disabled siblings and friends: £30 (standard school holiday activity day price).
