Assessor's Accreditation Scheme

This one day course provides expedition assessors with an understanding of their role and the knowledge needed to ensure that their expeditions meet the Duke of Edinburgh's Award (DofE), conditions and requirements.

This is a national training route that covers the role of a DofE expedition assessor, the 'seven steps' to assessment and recent changes to the award conditions and requirements. The course is ideal for DofE workers wishing to progress to the role of expedition assessor and DofE leaders who require reaccreditation.

By the end of the course delegates will have the knowledge to ensure that their expeditions meet the DofE's conditions and requirements.

Course detail

The DofE's Expedition Assessor Accreditation Scheme (EAAS) is the national training route to becoming an accredited Expedition Assessor. The purpose of the EAAS is to provide the preparation and training needed to undertake expedition assessments. The scheme trains and accredits people who want to assess Bronze, Silver and Gold expeditions in the UK.

Course content will include:

· The role of a DofE expedition assessor

· The 'seven steps' to assessment

· Recent changes to the award conditions and requirements 

Pre-requisites

The following must be held prior to this course:

· Aged 18 years or over

· Passport photo with name written on the reverse (to be supplied with booking form)

· A completed and signed EAAS3 form, which must include an endorsement of your technical competence from your Operating Authority's Outdoor Education Advisor. More information regarding these elements will be supplied directly from DofE upon booking.

· Completion of the Duke of Edinburgh's Expedition Assessor Accreditation Scheme pre-course learning, including the Gold module for those intending to assess in wild country areas (more information)

· Completion of the DofE e-induction
