Bouldering is a form of rock climbing that is performed without ropes or harnesses. Bouldering "problems" are much shorter than rock climbs but often include a short sequence of difficult moves, this can help improve power and technique. The bouldering loft at The Lock has 35 problems and 2 traverses covering a range of grades, which are re-set each month to keep your interest.
Anybody can try bouldering without special training or equipment, but you will need to register first (Under 14's must be supervised by an adult), or participate as part of an organised group visit. Soft matting is installed below the walls to make landing more comfortable, but this does not prevent injury from falls and by participating you are accepting this risk.
