Slovenian Julian Alps Gold Expedition with Essex Outdoors
Complete the final qualifying venture of your Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award in the stunning mountains of Slovenia.
This expedition takes place in the beautiful country of Slovenia, specifically the National Park of
Rakov Skojcan.
As part of your Gold Award you will need to complete the expedition section of the scheme. Along with your walking group you will attend training, practice and also plan and execute a journey for your final qualifying venture. We will support your expedition in Slovenia ensuring it meets the requirements of the Gold Award scheme.
We offer the training, practice and qualifying venture as a complete package to get you through the expedition section. If you and your group are looking for someone to facilitate your expedition then this is for you.
You will take four days and three nights to journey through the mountains working together and gaining new skills and experiences to take forward into the future.
The terrain is a combination of meadows, dense fir forest and mountainous area culminating in the peak of Veliki Sneznik, 1796m.
The country of Slovenia is located to the North East of Italy, the southern border of Hungry as well as bordering Croatia. Once part of Yugoslavia the country retains some of its Eastern European culture whilst embracing the influence of Western Europe.
On completion of the expedition phase, groups have the chance to sample areas of the Triglav National Park and visit the lakes of Bled and Bohinj as well as spending time in the Slovenian capital, Ljubljana.
Slovenia not only offers tremendous physical challenge for the expedition it also delivers in beauty, culture and memories for a lifetime.
