All ability activity days at Mersea

It’s what you can do that counts

Our Mersea centre is offering a series of action-packed days for children aged 8 and above and adults, with and without a disability, to take part in fun and challenging inclusive activities.

Participants will join a group of up to 5 others, plus supporters, for four 90 minute sessions. Guests will be allocated to groups based on their age (children or adults).

Activities
Selection 1: High Ropes, Zip Wire, Archery and Swimming (all wheelchair accessible)
Selection 2: Pedal Karts, Archery, Climbing and Swimming

Due to Covid-19 precautions, we are not able to offer the usual wide range of activities. Before confirming your booking we may contact you to discuss the access needs of participants.

Programme for the day
9.45 am Arrival and check-in at Reception
10 am Activity 1
11.30 am Break
11.45 am Activity 2
1.15 pm Lunch
2 pm Activity 3
3.30 pm Break
3.45 pm Swimming
5.15 pm Finish

Parents/Supporters

  • Parents/supporters should be in attendance throughout the day. We are not able to provide respite.
  • They may be asked to assist a participant to take part in an activity under the supervision of an Instructor e.g. fit a harness
  • There is no charge for parents/supporters, but we cannot guarantee a ‘go’ on the activities, except for swimming.

Covid-19

  • While legal restrictions have been lifted, Essex Outdoors are still taking precautions to reduce the spread of Covid-19 and protect both customers and staff.
  • If you have any of the COVID-19 symptoms – fever, cough, sore throat – please do not book or travel to our centre.
  • Hand washing breaks and sanitiser will be made available throughout your visit.
  • Participants will need to bring a face-covering with them, for use in an event where we need to manage safety.

Food and drink

  • Please remember to bring a packed lunch as well as snacks and drinks.
  • There is no food available on site and our vending machines will not be available.

Clothing

  • Participants will need to wear comfortable old clothing, with closed footwear.
  • Please bring spare clothing, including footwear, and a waterproof top if it looks like rain.
  • Don’t forget your swimming kit. Footwear must be worn between the changing rooms and the pool area

These action-packed days are jut £30 per participant*

There is no charge for supporters, but we cannot guarantee a ‘go’ on the activities, except for swimming.

Please note: while these opportunities are taking place during the normal period for the Mersea Island Festival, the activities are not delivered on a drop-in basis. Groups will spend up to 90 minutes on each activity before moving on to the next.

*Places will be reserved for 48 hours until payment is received.
