The Essex Outdoors centre at Bradwell-on-Sea is a leading provider of sailing and powerboating activities for schools and groups, nestled among the magical creeks and marshes of the Dengie peninsula, on a charming stretch of sheltered tidal water on the east coast of Essex.
Delivering high-quality residentials and day-based outdoor education programmes for schools and groups, Bradwell-on-Sea offers the perfect introductions to sailing, as well as intermediate and more advanced courses and residentials.
The experienced (and enthusiastic) Royal Yachting Association Accredited (RYA) staff can take a crew of around ten young people in Drakkar boats, making for the perfect introduction to the sport.
Sailing is an excellent activity for young people, helping to build confidence, communication and team working skills, as well as learning to manage risk by encouraging participants to help make good judgement calls. And of course, it’s also enormous amounts of fun too.
Other water-based activities at the centre include boat trips, powerboating and crabbing – where children can learn about marine life. And Coastal Discovery sessions blend the very best of environmental education and forest school principals with fun activities.
Back on land, further activities are available to build into your stay, from bridge/raft building to high ropes and archery. Sessions can be shaped depending on priorities from confidence-building to learning a new skill and can be tailored to your curriculum or pastoral needs.
Accommodation at Bradwell-on-Sea is taken care of by our purpose-built, heated, residential block or for a night under the starts, try the tent village. Packages include onsite catering, showers and toilets blocks and use of the coastal education centre.
Bradwell-on-Sea is ideal for children aged 8-16, groups of 130 or below, and is wheelchair accessible.
